I don't have a website.
So, you don't have a website? Congratulations on taking the first step to securing a
spot in cyberspace for your business. If you've never had a website before, you may not
realize there is way more to it than just information and a pretty design to show off.
Having a good-looking website is no use if it is not effective. The design needs to
communicate well, be search engine friendly, and promote action.
Here are some of the top questions people like you have been asking. Maybe you can relate
to some of them. If not, go ahead and ask your own, and we'll do our best to answer it.

My cousin’s neighbor’s teenage son dabbles in this Internet stuff. Shouldn’t I just
have him build me a site?
You’d be surprised how often we hear this... and how often we get calls from these
people three months later when it didn’t work quite like they had imagined.
Then it’s back to square one.
You wouldn’t let your babysitter do heart surgery on you just because she’s taking an
anatomy course in high school, would you? Gosh we hope not! It is best to hire an
expert to get the job done right.
Here’s some free advice, peppered with a little bias from years of experience of
dealing with frustrated do-it-yourselfers...call us first. We’ll show you how your
website can be one of the most important investments you can make for you business, and
instead of just another expense, it can actually become a huge moneymaker for you. That
is, of course, if it is built correctly with results in mind and a clear marketing
strategy as the blueprint for success. Chances are, you are not going to get this from
your cousin’s neighbor’s kid. But if you do, let us know. We could always use a sharp
young intern, and we’d like to interview him.
What are some of the cool features you can add to my website?
When it comes to cool features on the web, the sky is the limit. We can incorporate all
sorts of fancy items like live chat, shopping carts, video…and the list goes on. It is
easy to get carried away and add features simply for the cool factor alone. We
recommend focusing on your marketing goals first, and then we can help you determine
which features will be beneficial in reaching those goals.
Since the online world is evolving at lightning speed, the web dev team at Produce
Results works hard to keep up with the latest trends and stay ahead of the curve. Our
tech gurus can advise you of the pros and cons of incorporating the best web
technology into your site.
What if I don’t like the design?
Throughout the design process, we check in with you to get your thumbs up on style,
layout, colors, and images before we move on to the next step. We do this to ensure
that you are on board with how the design is coming along before we go too far in one
direction. We believe in a collaborative environment, and since no one knows your
company better than you, we want your input! Our design process begins with a very
thorough creative brief where we get to know you, and we address your goals. We will
work with you to create a design that fits your company’s brand, looks professional,
and generates results that correlate to increased revenue. While there is more to web
design than just aesthetics, our creative team puts great focus into designing websites
that we are proud to display in our portfolio and will make you proud to call your own.
Do I need hosting? What is it anyway?
Yes, you need it! Hosting is what allows your site to be continuously visible to your
customers. Many people don't quite understand what hosting is, so we like to think of
it like this - Your website is like the advertisement you saw on that billboard on your
way to work this morning. Hosting is like the space the advertiser rented so you and
everyone else on the road could see that billboard. Just like the advertiser expects
the billboard company to maintain that space and make sure it is free from graffiti and
safe from the elements... our hosting maintains your website. We have a full support
crew to eliminate downtime and technical difficulties so your website can be
online and functioning properly at all times.
What is the web design process?
We have a very comprehensive process that we follow to make sure that your website
turns out pixel perfect before it goes online for the whole world to see it. Here is a
general overview of what to expect…
Creative Brief
We start out with an in-depth creative brief. This is where you meet with the Produce
Results team over donuts and coffee to answer a bunch of questions about your business
and your goals. We laugh a lot, consume way too many calories and caffeine, and get to
know you and your company a little better by the end of the meeting.
Market Research & Sitemap
If you are interested in Search Engine Optimization to help increase traffic to your
website, we will do an intensive keyword study to determine the most active and
profitable terms to target. We take this information, coupled with market research, and
develop a sitemap that gives an outline of the pages we will include. You will have an
opportunity to review and approve the keyword list and the sitemap before we move on to
the next phase in the process.
Wireframe & Mockup
The sitemap is handed over to our creative team, who has already been dreaming up ways
to make your new website look great and outperform the competition. Our creative team
will create a wireframe, which is a blueprint for the new design…except we make it in
black, so you might want to call it a blackprint. It shows placement of text, images,
navigation structure, and any specific components the home page will include. Once you
give your John Hancock on the wireframe, we break out our artist berets and take it to
the drawing table to bring it to life. This is when you really see the design start to
take shape.
Content & Sub Pages
Now that the home page is complete, we can get to the guts of your website. We will
begin writing content and laying out the content within the sub pages.
Again, you will get the opportunity to sign off on the content or request changes
before we move on. There are many times during the web design process when we will ask
for your signature to give approval, and you may feel like you are at a mortgage
closing. Your input is important to us, and we want to make sure we get it right before
taking a step forward.
Development
Development is when our left-brainers take over. Our web development team will build
code for the site, based on the final concepts from creative, approved content, and the
keyword specifications. After a few weeks of non-stop programming, and several Mountain
Dew can pyramids later, the site will be ready for Beta testing. A few minor tweaks
here and there, and your site can go up and be seen by millions.
Search Engine Optimization
This is the part of the process where that beautiful website we just designed for you
really becomes an effective marketing tool. After your site goes live, we can begin
tracking the analytics so we can evaluate its performance make any changes necessary.
This is also the point where we start the backlinking process to help boost your search
engine rankings. A backlink is really just what it sounds like - a "link" that goes
"back" to your website...kind of like a referral. The more relevant and important the
person (or website) giving the referral, the more weight it has with search engines.
Backlinking enhances the organic listings on search engines like Google, Yahoo and
Bing, which in turn increases traffic to your website.
Do I need to provide the content?
We will ask you to provide a few things to help us get started like logos, photos, and
any copy you are using in other marketing materials that you want to mirror. Then we
take what you’ve given us and swirl it all up with our creative juice to make it
polished and professional. Our writers understand how to create content specifically
for the web. There is a delicate balance to writing content that will send the
appropriate message to your audience, be informative, and boost search engine results
all at the same time.
How long does it take?
The average website is built in 60-90 days, but there are a million and one factors
that can affect how quickly this happens. The number of pages, complexity of
programming, and speed of interaction with the you all come into play when trying to
meet a deadline. The faster you respond to approvals and requests, the faster
we can get your website done.
What if I need an update after the site is done?
We understand that you may have updates you want to make to keep your website's content fresh and current. We offer you an online support system to make submitting your requests easy and turnaround time fast!
Is it expensive?
What used to be a big expense has just become your biggest moneymaker. We love
beautiful design, but our ultimate focus in web design is getting you results that pay
off with dollar signs. We can work with your budget to figure out how to achieve your
online marketing goals for your business. Contact us for a custom quote.
